“But I’m 55…and it’s menopause.”
“I have low testosterone levels.”

Before one can “blame” their hormones, I am encouraging you to reflect on your daily activity levels.
The weight gain you are associating with challenges related to hormones, might actually be because you stopped moving or otherwise slowed down.
Take a look at your watch, or your FitBit, or maybe even your phone if you keep it in your pocket often enough. How many steps are you getting each day?
A good general rule of thumb is to get approximately 8,000-10,000 steps per day. Strive to walk for approximately 30-60 minutes daily. This doesn’t have to be all at once, but can also be broken up throughout the day. Fortunately, we are closer and closer to Spring and this will become a smidge easier!
If you are a gym-goer, wonderful! However, that cannot be your only source of movement in a day. Tough love moment…if you’re getting in less than 5,000 steps daily, you are pretty much an active sedentary person. Sorry, not sorry.
Our bodies were designed to move. If you want to still be moving on your own accord at the ripe age of 65, 75, 85 and beyond…you need to be moving today.
In closing, might your hormones be affecting you by way of weight gain or making weight loss challenging? Yes. However, I can’t fully commit to that being the reason until we can check the box of daily activity levels.
Walking is one of the most underrated things people don’t do enough of. It’s one of the best things you can do for your health and better yet, it’s free!
My closing encouragement: get out there and get moving!
