Introduction to format of Coach Candice’s next book

The Last Weight Loss Book you’ll ever need!

My next book will be designed as a guide that one can implement over the course of the year. This 52-week health improvement approach will feature three key components each week:  1) mindset, 2) education, and 3) homework.

Let’s discuss the “why” behind each of these components to help you better understand why each of these are prioritized week-to-week.

Mindset

Many people focus on the “tasks” involved in improving their health.  For example, they might focus on finding the right gym program and then showing up at said gym program.  Or, they focus on tracking their foods or monitor their devices to consume just the right amount of calories or get in their steps for the day. That is all wonderful and good because in their own right, each of these tasks are important to improving one’s health. However, each of these tactics can ultimately fail to support long-term improvement if one doesn’t have an appropriate mindset to get the most out of those strategies.

Each week, there will be a different mindset topic.  Sometimes these topics will relate to the week’s education and/or skill development focus for the week and quite possibly they might not.  Ultimately though, each of these mindset segments will be valuable pieces of your own understanding and long-term success.

Education

Expanding upon what I mentioned above, the “tasks” of improving one’s health are no doubt important.  However, having an understanding of why they are important matters just as much.  I wouldn’t want to recommend you implement or practice a skill without you understanding why it matters.  With anything worthwhile, it is best approached purposefully and with intent.  You should understand why you are doing something and the rationale behind it versus just being told “because I said so.”

Any good coach helps to provide you the information and knowledge so that one day, you can function independently.  My goal is for you to not be dependent on me or others like myself forever.

Homework

Each week you will have some tasks to work on during the upcoming week.  It’s one thing to read about what to do, it’s another thing to implement what you have learned.

Improving your health involves a series of tasks each with their own importance.  I strive to break down each task as simply as possible and in many cases, will provide examples for how you can gradually implement them.  Please understand, developing better habits takes time and is not a linear process.  You may have periods of progress while occasionally experiencing moments of regression.  This is all part of the process.  What truly matters is your willingness to be persistent.  My one main ask of you is to not give up.

Next week, we get to work!

Sincerely,
Your friend in wellness and fitness,

Coach Candice
