Our society has ingrained it in women to fear “getting too bulky,” and it is costing them their health.
Muscle = metabolism. The thing women are buying “metabolism booster supplements” for…that is what muscles do for you. The more muscle mass you have, the more calories you burn at rest. Wanna be able to eat more? Have more muscles.
Muscle = better metabolic function. Muscles need glucose (or sugar) and help pull it from circulating in the bloodstream. One way to help reduce your risk of diabetes or help you manage your diabetes better: have more muscles.
Muscle = stronger bones. Consider this: approximately 80% of osteoporosis diagnoses are women. Women make up 70-75% of hip fractures. Death rates following hip fracture: 20-30% within a year. Weak bones are costing people a longer, more high quality life.
Muscle = better brain function. More muscle mass and strength has been linked to a lower risk of dementia and a slower rate of cognitive decline.
Women need to lift weights like their life and health depend on it, because it does.
The fear of “getting bulky” is greatly unfounded. Just ask any bodybuilder…they work for YEARS to get bulky and still many fall short. It requires an extreme dedication to lifestyle and nutrition that is beyond what the majority of folks are willing to commit to. Even then, some only ever get there with the help of steroids.
Beyond just boosting one’s confidence, being strong is also boosting someone’s health.
Helping someone get stronger is one of our favorite things to do. We love helping people go from “I don’t know if I can do that” to, “I can’t believe I just did that!”
