We hope you are as excited for a brand new week as we are!

Everyday is an opportunity to focus on being even just 1% better.  A common mistake that many folks make is focusing on going from 0 to 100, only to make it 3 days and quit.

On the other hand, the person who focuses on progress, not perfection, and makes that steady progress daily across hundreds of days will get infinitely further.  

Focus on making the simple things incredibly routine.  This will set you up better to navigate challenging times or circumstances.  

Last piece of advice:  kept it simple and drill down on the basics.  

This was echoed in the words of one of our clients who is going through a move.  I reminded her, “this is just a season and won’t last forever.”  In her words, she affirmed, “Want to just get back to basics this week. 8-10k steps, 4-5 workouts, 80% nutritious meals.”  

She typically aims for 12,000 steps per day, works out 5 days per week at Planet Fitness, and is more like 90-100% compliant (she has some goals!).  However, she is accepting that in these next two weeks, something is better than nothing.  She is doing the best with what she can and still making sure to prioritize her mind and body. 

In summary:  

  • focus on being even just 1% better
  • focus on long-term consistency
  • work to improve your routine in a way that will support your goals
  • when in doubt or during challenging times, focus on the basics
