On Friday, I invited folks who are on a GLP-1, yet still struggling to work with me. I had quite a few folks reach out.
Because, here’s the thing…even with something that can be helpful for many people, there are plenty who still struggle.
A lot of social and television media suggests it as a solution, but what they don’t highlight:
- people taking the medication, but not necessarily losing any weight
- suggesting people exercise to retain or increase muscle, but not guiding people in how to do that
- emphasizing that yes, it may help people eat less, but doesn’t guide people in how to eat better
- the long-term plan. How does one transition off of it?
I wasn’t surprised by the number of people that reached out. I’m hoping they felt heard or felt like they weren’t alone. I can’t imagine being that person where everyone around them who may be using one of these medications is sharing the results they are getting, yet they seem to be stagnant. Considering these folks may have tried other numerous “diets” or weight loss approaches and didn’t feel like anything worked and now one more thing that was sure to help them isn’t working…that must be tough to experience.
The good news:
- there is hope
- you can change
- you can be successful
- you don’t have to do it alone
