How this busy Mom gets results with just 2 days in the gym

Let me tell you about our client, Janet.

She’s a busy Mom and a busy work-from-home professional.

This past Saturday, she ran a 5K with other members and friends of her gym community.

She ended up with a new personal best on her 5K!

Those are the highlights.

The tough part in these recent weeks…battling through one of the seasonal viruses which knocked her out of the gym for a week. Even when she got back to working out, she was still battling with the remnants and was still not feeling 100%.

The thing that saved her: consistency and just showing up.

In the 2 years that she has belonged to our gym, she has rarely missed a day. She might’ve needed to change the days she comes to workout, but she has rarely missed a day.

She works out with us two (2) days per week for approximately 45-60 minutes. She has chosen a commitment that is manageable for her.

Recently, she missed her first week ever after getting sick with one of the seasonal viruses. When she was getting over the hump and recovering from her virus, she still came in, and did something. I encouraged her to consider three sets of exercises instead of four and to feel no pressure to beat her last numbers. I encouraged her to just focus on getting in some good movement because, “movement is medicine.”

Come race day, once again, she just showed up.

She did her best on that given day and was happy with whatever results would be. She finished the race happy, reporting that she was actually able to run more than she thought she would be able to. It wasn’t till later on in the evening when she was reviewing her results closer that she realized she had set a new personal best.

In closing, my words of encouragement and advice for you: pick a pattern you can be consistent with and focus on just showing up, no matter how imperfect that may look at times.
