Approaching change in this way sets you up for failure…

The approach:  seeking the quick fix.

And it’s no wonder people do.

We’re hit with endless marketing and messages that suck us in.

Stand in line at any supermarket check out, and you’ll be bombarded with headlines like, “lose 10 pounds over the next 10 days,” “lose weight forever fast,” or “6 week abs.”

Can you get some observable results with “quick fix” tactics in the short-term?  Likely yes.

Will they last and be something that supports long-term health or behavioral change?  Probably not.

Will adopting these tactics create long-term frustration as you repeatedly drift back to where you started time and time again?  Probably.

Consider this…our habits weren’t built over the past 10 days or 6 weeks…it’s likely that they have been formed over years.  To expect we are going to undo that in a matter of days or weeks is fairly unrealistic.

Tomorrow, we’ll share our standpoint on approaching long-term, effective change.

Wednesday, we’ll share our strategy for how we help people make long-term change.

Thursday, we’ll share one of our client’s stories where they embraced the concept of “time.”

In the meantime, Happy Monday!

Enjoy your Labor Day!
