It’s not uncommon that when people initiate a health, wellness, or fitness journey, they turn to supplements.
It’s also no wonder why they do. We’re bombarded with supplement ads dozens of times per day. It could be in the checkout at the supermarket, in your social media feed, on TV, or in your suggested items on Amazon.
The thing is…most of them are crap. Much of what you take a supplement for, you could get through consumption of actual food, which is way more rewarding and fulfilling.
The next thing is…none of them will really make a difference if your overall lifestyle is poor. If you’re still primarily eating processed foods, poorly managing your stress, sitting all day, barely drinking water, or getting poor sleep…it is unlikely that even the best supplement is going to make a significant difference in your overall life.
I will add in one more thing…this should save some folks a ton of money…gender specific supplements are really unnecessary and are just marketing ploys. You don’t need a “women’s protein powder,” you just need to consume enough protein or just get a protein powder that you enjoy. You don’t need a “women’s creatine blend,” you would likely just benefit from taking creatine period.
Tomorrow, I’m going to share a little bit more on our perspective when it comes to supplements. I might’ve started out a bit harsh on them today, but not all supplements are bad. Some are actually worth your time. The key thing: they must remain supplemental, not just the primary focus.
On Wednesday, we’ll highlight some that are worth it, and some that are definitely trash.
You never know! We might just save you a ton of money with what you learn this week!
Happy Monday!
Make it a great day!!
Sincerely,
Coach Candice
