Good morning!
Yesterday was Monday motivation…today is tough love Tuesday.
Why? As coaches we are here to encourage and cheer you on.
Likewise, we are also here to help you present you with the truth in loving, encouraging way.
Here it is: if the gym is the only movement you get in a given day, but you get approximately 5,000 steps or less per day, you are still leading a somewhat sedentary life.
You’ve got to move more than just at the gym. I LOVE the gym, but it isn’t the be-all-end-all. Daily movement in its entirety matters.
Feeling stuck with your weight loss or body re-composition goals? It’s likely that you need to be walking or moving more outside of the gym.
I’ve heard it said frequently, “sitting is the new smoking.” There are innumerable consequences to not having activity in your daily life. It is so important to just move. However, if someone’s only activity is the gym, I will still take that. Something is better than nothing. As folks often hear me say, “we start where we start and we go from there.”
Similarly, although three strength workouts is the sweet spot for helping people make significant improvements, I will always accept someone doing 1-2 workouts per week. (And actually, I’ve had a great number of people recently who have made significant positive change with two half-hour 1:1 sessions per week, paired with walking outside of the gym and mindfulness with nutrition).
In closing, if you are feeling stuck with making progress towards your goals, look to the simple stuff that you may be overlooking. They are often the difference makers ; )
Your friend in wellness and fitness,
With love,
Coach Candice
P.S. Go for a walk!
