Perfection.
It’s what holds too many people back.
For example:
- someone can’t eat 100% according to their plan for their day, so they eat like trash the entire day.
- someone goofs up on Tuesday, so they throw away the rest of the week and plan to start Monday…again
- someone is managing through an injury and can’t fully enjoy the workout in the way they would like, so they just don’t show up at all
- someone can’t incorporate exercise into their life for 3+ days per week, so they just don’t start at all.
These are just a few examples.
My encouragement for you: Don’t be one of those people.
65 Days left in the year.
Let’s say you are living the 50/50 life – you eat better 50% of the day and perhaps not as great 50% of the time. If you bump that to 65/35 where you eat better or move more often 65% of the time, that’s about 42 of the next 65 days where you strive to make better decisions for yourself. That leaves about 23 days where you are likely to do not as well.
Even at that rate of “imperfection,” you will be so much further ahead of the person who is focused on being 50/50. Or even better, you will light-years ahead of the person who does absolutely nothing.
Simple tips you can put into place that will help you make some great improvements over the upcoming weeks:
- strive for at least 6,000-7,000 steps per day (especially if you have been doing 5,000 or less)
- eat at least 50-60g of protein by noon each day
- take your lunch to work and don’t order out
- if you have been eating out 3+ days per week, dial that back to 2
- do at least one strength training workout per week
Don’t miss the forest for the trees.
Show up.
Show up imperfectly.
Just. Show. Up.
You can do it.
I believe in you.
